My Story

Before returning to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to complete my Teaching Certification, I spent a number of years in the workforce as a freelance artist and musician, including as a ballet accompanist, theater pit musician, and piano teacher to both beginner and advanced students.

In addition to a Bachelor’s in Art & Design from Edgewood College, I obtained a Certification in Small Business/Entrepreneurship (Dean’s List, 2017. Madison College Challenge Finalist) and successfully opened and ran my own bakery.

My knowledge working in the field of visual arts and in marketing/design will be an asset to my students and districts as both an arts advocate and career advisor, and I relish any opportunity to utilize my interdisciplinary training to empower the next generation of creative minds.

My arts-specific interests include Inclusive and Accessible arts education, LGBTQ+, Arts Integration/STEAM, creative problem solving, body mapping and embodiment, trauma-informed and mindful artistic expression.

Giving back to my community  is very important to me, and I have volunteered in many educational and artistic capacities: as the Off the Square Club (Lutheran Social Services) Art Club coordinator, ESL Tutor at the Literacy Network, and Islamic Summer/Sunday School Arts Facilitator at Madinah Academy of Madison.

My curriculum focuses ecologically responsivity, culturally immersion, and community integration as we seek to better our world and enrich our connection to ourselves and each other.

In short, I hope students will take from my classes not only an empowered sense of self and skills, but a deep awareness of and appreciation for the interconnectedness of life.  I believe the arts classroom can be a powerful workshop and vector for reflective dialogue, community building, social justice, and ecological stewardship.
